Nigeria Health Watch, has taken its health advocacy to another level, through its maiden edition of HealthMeets Art Gala themed; ‘Celebrating Womanhood.’
The Gala aimed at recognizing the strength and resilience of women in the face of adversity, harped on the need for the Nigerian government and relevant stakeholders to reduce the rate of maternal mortality, which according to the 2018 Nigeria Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), accounts for 20 per cent of global maternal deaths.
Managing Director Nigeria Health Watch, Vivianne Ihekweazu insists on urgent and practical solutions to reduce the nymber of Nigerian women who lose their lives while giving birth.
“As health workers we need to inspire change, whether it is a change in thinking or a change in behaviour. This requires touching people on an emotional level and one of the ways we are seeking to do this, is through creative arts.”
